I designed this residency for photographers who want more than a workshop — a genuine immersion into place, light, and quiet practice. The Tower of Lethendy offers a setting that is almost impossibly beautiful: a 400-year-old estate in the heart of Perthshire, private, refined, completely undisturbed.

Each edition is planned around a specific full moon, chosen for the quality of light and season it brings to the landscape. The programme follows the same rhythm every time: days between coastal and countryside locations, evenings in long-exposure sessions, mornings with breakfast by a Le Cordon Bleu-trained chef. Partners may join as retreating guests — golf, tennis, heated pool, and the quiet calm of the Tower.

Day by day

The programme

Each edition is built around a single celestial centrepiece — whatever the sky can offer that time of year. The programme structure stays the same; the anchor changes with the season. Our inaugural edition in early May was a Flower Moon residency: five days timed around the full moon rising over a medieval cliff-top fortress. A late-autumn or winter edition follows a different logic — a moonless night with exceptional transparency becomes a star trail session; if conditions align, it becomes an aurora chase. Every residency is planned around what the light will actually do.

Day 1
Arrival
The Gentle Start
Arrival and welcome briefing at the Tower. Your first evening session in woodland carpeted with seasonal bluebells — an unhurried introduction to the landscape before the intensive days ahead.
Day 2
Coastline
Red Cliffs Day
A coastal session at dramatic red sandstone cliffs and sea stacks on the North Sea. Instruction focuses on tonal contrast, coastal light conditions, and slow-shutter water work with ND filters.
Day 3
Full Moon
The Full Moon Cultivation — centrepiece of the tour
Exploration of a medieval cliff-top fortress at twilight. The session culminates in capturing the Full Moon rising over ancient stone walls — the image the entire residency is built around.

Harbour
The Old Harbour
Photography of a 19th-century fishing harbour — geometry of old masonry, weathered stone piers, and the quiet drama of working water. Morning is left free for estate exploration.
Day 5
Departure
Farewell
Final breakfast at the Tower, group image review with Anna, and departure. Each guest takes home a signed, limited-edition keepsake print from the residency.

Programme is subject to weather conditions. Anna will adapt sessions to ensure the best possible light and results for all participants.
