“It’s about escaping the world’s noise, even if just for one night”
by Anna Dobrovolskaya-Mints

“I TRAVELED TO THE DOLOMITES in Italy in July 2020 to capture the Neowise comet, which was visible in the opposite direction of the Milky Way. It turned out to be the cloudiest summer I can recall. As I approached my planned location, I realized the comet was obscured by clouds. After waiting for several hours in vain, and with sunrise approaching, I decided to move to my backup location. The Milky Way was still visible, though partially covered by clouds, and that’s when I took this photo, ‘Foggy Morning in Dolomites.’

This photograph is part of my ongoing series, Zero F*cks Given, which highlights the importance of disconnecting from digital, media, and acoustic noise. It’s about finding moments where you don’t think about your problems or the world’s disasters, even if just for one night. It’s crucial to reset your mind and soul to endure the challenges of our times. Astrophotography requires meticulous planning. I always have plans A, B, and even C when I go out to shoot. When I started in photography, I was passionate about architectural photography. However, as an introvert, I found it challenging to take photos in front of people. I then shifted to landscape photography. There were fewer people, but passersby, especially dog walkers, often wanted to talk to me! Naturally, I thought the same landscape would be empty at night, and my love for the stars blossomed like a bolt of lightning.”
